I was not really a manga person until I came across such works like HayatexBlade aka Hayate Cross Blade because I am an animation maniac who likes moving anime with live action. So if I am taking the pain to recommend this, there should be something suspicious …hmmm…(rubs chin thoughtfully)
If you didn’t already know I like the combination of Action and Comedy and more impressed if the protogonists are girls because well….not that I don’t like boys, I just find it way cooler, that’s all. Ahem. ¬.¬
So what about HayatexBlade is awesome?
EVERYTHING!!!
Don’t mind me getting excited here but it’s true. For starters, we don’t have some cheap third-rate comedy but real authentic anime-style gags that leaving you ROFLing!
Shizuru Hayashiya, the author of this manga (also the sensei for Please Teacher/Onegai Teacher!), is pretty good at bringing out the story and characters. Art is really neat and not scrumpy (Did I just make up a word?)
Action and plot leaves you craving for more & what’s more?! One of the characters shares her name with me (*wink wink*) JUN!!
People who like shoujo-ai would fall in love with this and people who DON’T, still would! Because it is mostly undertoned yet so hilarious!
So here’s your genre: Action/Comedy/Friendship/Martial Arts/ School Life.

(From MangaFox)
Kurogane Hayate finds herself in a dilemma. Her twin sister, Nagi, is recovering from an injury and needs someone to go to school in her place. Little did she know, the school was based on a “Swordswoman League,” where everyone participates in what are called ‘Duels for Stars’ with their sisters-in-arms/shinyuu, in order to gain prestige, money, and power.
Her first encounters with the students at this new school range from intimidating, such as with the Student Council President, Amachi Hitsugi and her shinyuu, Miyamoto Shizuku, to completely awestruck, such as the hot-headed but extremely experienced (and without a shinyuu) Mudou Ayana. At first Hayate thinks she can get away without participating in the Duels for Stars, but the first day she comes home, the orphanage she cares for deeply is a complete wreck…
My rating: 9/10!!!
