I know Boss came out last year but unfortunately I couldn’t see it until this year, so don’t complain on late review!
After seeing the whole series in couple of days, how could I not write a review?!
I like to thank Nakayo from Yasashii Sekai for pointing this out to me (waves back =])
Okay, so we have this super detective team in one place gathered together after being kicked out as useless from their previous departments and most importantly, the leader for this new crime division team is a beautiful woman, who could make your eyes go wide and your mouth agape or at times just make you fall off your chair!
Characters:
- Eriko Osawa
The leader of the team I am talking about, she is outstanding detective who seems to have left for America for a reason( not spoiling it for you) but comes back and finds she is appointed as the BOSS for this new formed team. It comes as a surprise to her that her team rejected as least talented could actually be made first-class detectives. Under her supervision, we see how she pulls the shattered stories together brilliantly. Her best point would be her talent for ‘profiling’. Just with few hints, she could draw out the profile of a suspect. Also, she has good interrogation and leadership skills.
2. Shinjiro Nodate
This guy is the Assistant Councellor, who is the one who actually proposed and brought this team into being. He is found to be an old classmate and good friend of Eriko. Best talent : flirting -.-
3. Takuma Katagiri
Found to be the most handsome than all males of his team, he rather has some handicap. Due to an incident sometime ago, Katagiri developed a fear of guns and refuses to use them. He is rather silent but smart. Best talent : His skilled markmanship of guns. (Ironic I know)
4. Nami Kimoto
lol I don’t understand why but Kimoto’s character captured me. Maybe becoz’ I tend to behave similar to her at times. Kimoto loves to laze and sleep around, have more interaction with machines than humans. She is pretty smart in reality and if you ask me, if Eriko retires, the next BOSS suitable is Kimoto. She is specialist in analyzing crime scenes, investigating voices and seems to have smarts for interrogation techniques. She didn’t believe in people or team until Eriko showed her otherwise.
5. Zenji Iwai
As you can see, his only quality is his fearful stout build. And news is that he is …ahem…not straight. This leads to many comedical situations. He often leaves the job to his partner, Keisuke Yamamura.
6. Keisuke Yamamura
Omg, this guy is the oldest of the team, I can’ predict the age and wondered at first in what way he could be used in the team. He rather seems more concerned about his half-bald hair and fall for every show-girl. But he did seem helpful here and there. Afterall, he had to take all the job on himself, including Iwai’s. o.o
7. Ippei Hanagata
The bubbling soldier of justice. He is rather childish and klutz but at times he could be interesting. Best quality: His unfailing enthusiasm.
8. Reiko Narahashi
She is not exactly in the team but works in the lab. Kimoto used to work under her before she’s appointed to this new team. She’s cute but not particularly interested in relationships because of her job.
Yup, that is the list of main characters. There are a total of 11 episodes and each episode has a case which makes you sit on the edge and not flick your eyes. Humor adds spice to the whole series and gives life. Direction is professionally done. And acting on the whole is good. Cases are well laid out and solved in flattering ways. If you ask me, I would rate this series 8.5/10.
Yes, I don’t give 8 that easily but BOSS is indeed good! Wish we have another season. Now stop wasting time and go watch it!!
